Better than Biscuits
A preacher asked if someone else would like to pray. Old John had been a layperson for a long time though not very verbal. The preacher, not getting any volunteers, asked John if he'd lead the word.
John stood and said, "God, you know I hate buttermilk." The preacher was concerned by his choice, but listened curiously as John continued. "...and Lord you know I hate lard." Everyone was opening an eye or two to see if they could figure out where this was going. "...and plain flour ain't good eatin' neither." John exclaimed. "...but, if you find someone who can mix 'em all together and cook 'em right, you get pretty good biscuits. We may all not like the parts you got for us that get us where we are going, but I bet when we get there, it'll be better than biscuits."
